Dr. Epstein joined RAH in 1989 from the University of Minnesota where as a fellow and instructor in cardiovascular radiology, he conducted research in vascular and nonvascular interventional radiology, and developed a specialized needle used in the assessment of urinary tract obstructions. Dr. Epstein’s areas of expertise include the fields of invasive and noninvasive vascular assessment and endovascular intervention, including the use of caval filters, vascular stents, thrombolytics, angioplasty, venous access and vertebral augmentation for spine fractures. He initiated the transhepatic portocaval shunt program at Memorial Regional Hospital, and is the founder of the South Florida Laser Vein Center. Dr. Epstein has served in many professional societies at the local, state and national levels including as the president of the Florida Radiological Society, and has been a Medicare advisor since 2002. Dr. Epstein is a frequent participant in international medical relief programs, with multiple medical missions to Iraq, India, Honduras, and Panama. He is an officer in the Global Surgical and Medical Support Group, a non-profit entity providing medical services to many sites around the world. In 2008, Dr. Epstein was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology.
